Ermou Street is the most commercial street in the historical triangle of the old city of Athens. Named after Hermes, messenger of the Gods and patron of commerce, it has been twinned with Okurayama Street in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan since 1988, and is 1.5 kilometers long. Notable landmarks in the area are the Byzantine Temple of Kapnikarea and the neighboring Metropolis of Athens, meeting points for residents and tourists, as the road separates the traditional settlements of Plaka, Psyrri and Thisiou.
